INFORMATION
There were disastrous earthquakes in Nepal in April and May 2015; most part of the national land was affected and a quarter of them, including the Metropolitan Kathmandu, were heavily affected. The recovery process has been carried out. Many of the schools, whose facilities were fully or partially destroyed, gradually reconstructed or rehabilitated.
However, due to the spread of COVID-19 from the beginning of 2020, all of the schools were once closed. Currently, some schools provide online lessons; however, it is difficult for many of the students who live in the mountainous areas or who are from the poor households.
It is impossible to eliminate infections diseases and natural disasters totally; however, it must be possible to minimize their negative influence to children’s teaching/learning environment through strengthening community and schools’ activities to promote environmental protection and disaster prevention and risk reduction. These activities will lead to the environmental protection of the Himalaya mountains.
